Drug Taking Why Do It?

Posted in Uncategorized on May 5, 2008 by sunnybunny

Hello all sorry i haven’t posted for a while, i have been kept busy trying to create a new angle in which to address teens and drugs.

I have recently received a comment asking what is like to take drugs and why people do it in the first place. The youth of today is forever searching for more ways to enjoy themselves, weather that be by getting high or getting exercise. Drugs offer a almost instant high that (depending on the drug) can last for hours on end, teens can turn to this for many reasons be it depression, lack of social skills or just a way to escape reality. As for taking drugs it depend on the drug you are using and the method you choose to use. Some drugs are injected into the blood stream while others are smoked like a cigarette.

I have been asked by blog readers why teens are more inclined to do drugs when they are with strangers rather then with friends. It is true that people are more relaxed when they are with friends and long term drug users do usually shoot up with their mates but from my personal experience when there is first timer (someone who hasn’t done drugs before) they are more likely to try it with complete strangers around rather then their friends because they feel as if they will be rejected if they don’t. Most first time users will do drugs with people they don’t known, you will also find that a lot of first time users will try drugs with another friend who has never done drugs and they will both be around people they arn’t completely relaxed with.

This goes out to everyone wanting to try drugs for the first time. I’m not going to be like the new wave of drugs adds and say u will die and/or live a horrible life if you try drugs. Let me tell you though that the risks are high with today’s dodgy production of drugs and the new types that are out there. I would say don’t try drugs because you never know who made it and what harmful products are in it, it is pretty much a gamble with your life. If for some reason you do try drugs make shore you are in a secure place and that their is help around if you need it. I would suggest reading a few articles about teen drug use to see how real the effects can be.

As for peer pressure if your friends are pushing you to do things you really don’t want to do and you know that it is in your best interest not to do those things then you need to look closely at who your friends are and if they are really worth it.

I’m sorry to say that this will be my last post for some time due to the fact that i am taking my family on a holiday to Fiji. I look forward to reading any comments that you wish to post and i hope i will be able to continue when i return. Thank you all for taking the time to read my blog.

Working Hard

Hello again

I have been working with ‘Say No To Drugs’ for a while now and i think i am on the right track to helping people the right way. I have been working with a group of teenagers via the Internet to help them with their family problems and their drug struggles. Life with drug overuse can do terrible things to a persons self esteem and willingness to live. They all seem to tell the same story, they are offered drugs while out with mates and take it as a new experience, but find themselves needing more as the days go by. My experience with drugs was mostly the same, The urge to take drugs is that much stronger when you are with people you don’t know closely because if the fact that people want to fit in with their peers or look cool even if their mind is telling them its a bad idea.

here is a link explaining why teens are more susceptible to drug use:

Say No To Drugs

Hello again

People these days underestimate the power that technology has, they think of it as something that is simply there because it is. Technology can be your creative spark, your way out, your freedom and even as a means to find out what life is really about. Technology can help you to understand the world around you by letting you explore what life has to offer with the click of a button.

Technology has helped me in  many ways with my drug addiction, i used the Internet as a last resort to talk to people who could help me because my family and friends refused to talk to me beacuse they lost faith in me and thought i was a lost cause, this is a very saddening experience for a young person to have and only deepened my depression. After some time of searching I got in touch with an organisation called ‘Say No To Drugs’ over the Internet and they guided me to a counselor who helped me through my problems. Ever since ‘Say No To Drugs’ helped me to become a better person i have been working closely with them to get the word out about drugs and other harmful substances. You could say that technology is the reason i am here today.

I put forward the slogan ‘Life Is What U Make It’ and i am using technology to help people all around the world. You may be thinking that at the tender age of seventeen i shouldn’t be giving people advice, but i think you are wrong and i think the best people to give advice are people who have been through the same struggles and can relate to the youth of today.

Life is what u make it

Hello to all

My name is Charlie and i am a worker for ‘Say No To Drugs’ i am here to try and spread the interest of getting off drugs through blogs. If you wish to know more about me please refer to the ‘About Me’ page.

Technology is a beautiful thing, without it i wouldn’t be here right now. My life so far has been full if disappointments and problems. Up until thirteen months ago i was a severe drug user and at the wrong end of life. Technology helped me by providing me with someone to help me through life and put me on the right track, and so i am here to help you.

Drugs are a severe problem in today’s society, they can be found anywhere and come in many different shapes and forms. It is so amazingly heartbreaking to see how easy it is for teenagers even at ages as young as thirteen to be able to go onto the street and purchase any number of drugs. Another big problem with today’s youth is alcohol and the over consumption of it. Life becomes terribly complicated at the age of thirteen with high school, dating and puberty (i know). Most teens that age don’t realise that drugs and alcohol can and will destroy your life if you abuse them or use them inappropriately.

Drugs are forever evolving and changing, they are becoming more deadly and easy to obtain. You need simply walk down an inner city street to be offered drugs these days.

Drugs are almost never a complete self choice, people are usually pushed into using them by peers or even the people who sell the drug. The problem today is teens are so caught up in the whole rush of  getting drunk and getting high that they don’t see the truth about what they are doing or they simply choose to ignore it all together. One thing that will always be stuck in my mind is what a frequent speed user once said to me “i don’t care you gotta die sometime”. Its people like that with no respect for life or the people around them that are turning out youth into drug junkies.
